The Birth Story

On Monday morning I started up on my walk. I was planning on walking all the way up the hill by our apartment and rewarding myself with Jamba Juice. I had been texting Dave all that morning and Luckily he was able to text me back right away every time. About half way up the hill I felt like I was going to die. I started getting a really bad contraction, was dizzy, and nauseousness  I turned around and started my walk home as all my symptoms got worse. I was still texting Dave who decided to call me back and asked me if he needed to come home. I started to cry a little at this point and he said he was on his way and raced home. When he got home my symptoms had all calmed down but I was still getting my contractions pretty regularly at about five mins apart and they lasted for about a minute. After having them for about two and a half hours I called my doctor's office where my nurse told me I needed to head to the hospital. We made sure everything was in order and locked up Comet withe fresh hay in case this was the real thing. We got to the hospital and checked in. Measuring at only 1cm. The nurse had me walk around for a half hour to see if that would change anything. Dave was a great sport and walked around the hospital with me. After the half hour walk was over I got checked again but nothing had changed so they sent us home.
We picked up some spicy chicken and carmel corn because they were rumored to induce labor. After eating both I went for another walk just around the apartment complex for 30 mins. Then I went to bed because I was worn out.
Dave had asked to work from home that Tuesday just so he wouldn't have to race back home. I got up pretty early that morning since I had gone to bed pretty early and I decided to attempt the Jamba Juice walk again. It was nice and cool that morning and I made it to Jamba with no huge contractions. When I got home they were a little bit stronger but not by much. Then at 2 pm my water broke and we headed back to the hospital.
Because I was GBS positive we had to go as soon as my water broke instead of just hanging out at home. We got all checked in and were in for the long wait. Things were slow and not really progressing so they started me up on Pitocin and that really got things going. Contractions started to get more frequent and intense and I was so glad when they said I could get an epidural. I had been getting horrible contractions that were about a minute and a half apart. Getting the epidural was nothing in comparison to the contractions. At about 12 they started wanting me to push. Pushing was exhausting! I didn't think I was going to be able to make it through it and that I would pass out from weariness. But I made it through it and Cohen Tucker Zaugg entered into the world at 1:30 am on September 19th weighing in at 7 lbs 8 oz and 19 inches long.
We are so grateful to have this sweet little boy in our lives. He brings us so much joy and happiness.

Never have I realized that twenty-four hours in a day could be so long until I had to be awake for most of it.

A Letter To My Over Due Son

Dear baby,
Your due date has come and gone and you still aren't here. We want to meet you so very much. Especially after getting to see you at the ultrasound last week. It's not just us who want you to come either, but lots of people. We know it's warm and cozy but you'll have WAY more room out here and we can always swaddle you up nice and tight if you miss it. Please come out soon.
We love you,
Your Mom and Dad

Sleep

So last night I maybe got about an hour of sleep in (not all at once mind you) and it just makes me wish that it had been because I was busy taking care of a little baby all night instead of restlessness/trying to get comfortable/ and a few mild cramp like Braxton Hicks (all of this) throught the whole night.
The worst/best part of it all was I got some of the best sleep I've had in FOREVER and probably will ever have for a LONG TIME the night before. I slept for 12 hours that night straight through minus having to go to the bathroom once that night. It was beautiful and I was so grateful for it. Especially now after having not really slept last night so I'm not 100% sleep deprived.
and I know this is my future

Baby Ultrasound Pictures

We got to do a bonus ultra sound today. The doctor wanted to know how big the baby really was so he had us come in and do one to get all the measurements. He's measuring in at 7 lbs (and something oz's... I know I'm horrible and can't remember that part). But the fun part was getting to see his cute little face and see a full on actual baby inside of me. We also got to do the cool 3D (4D... I'm not sure what it is) pictures for his little face and he's got a double chin already! He's perfect, he just needs to get here already now.

I just want to kiss his little pudgy cheeks!

Pregnancy Perks

I have loved getting asked at pretty much every store if I need help out to my car with my stuff, even when I barely have anything. I've never taken them up on it but it's nice to know that they care (or at least pretend to).

*Speaking of the store, I almost got free diapers from the grocery store. But my I couldn't allow myself to put the unpaid for diapers I had forgotten about under the cart in the car.

Happy 2 Years

I can't believe it's been two years, but at the same time I feel like we've been together forever! I'm so glad to have met Dave and that we got married on this day two years ago in the Seattle Temple. We've been through a lot in these two years with lots of moving, traveling, movies, cuddles, and fun. I love him so much and he makes me so happy. He's always there to tell me he loves me and that I'm cute/pretty/beautiful/sexy many times through out the day and I know he means it every time. I look forward to the adventures to come with this man of mine in the future!
