Kangaroo Farm

So for today's fun back home Molly Novak called me up in the morning and invited me to go with her family and a few other people to a kangaroo farm. I said I would go of course. The drive out there involved listening to "Robin Hood", getting a little lost, and being late. We lucked out though because there was a little preschool group that had scheduled to come to the farm a little after the time we had got there so we were able to go on the tour and see all the animals.
While we were waiting we met our first animals -- birds. There was a peacock and a bunch of chickens running around the front which was fun but also a little scary for me because I'm a little scared of birds...
Then we went on the tour and saw lemurs, a ton of kangaroos of different sizes (one was taller than me) that we got to pet, hug, and feed, donkeys, a pony, an ostrich and his pen mates - emus, and last but not least llamas.
Now while were with the kangaroos I couldn't resist getting close to them and when the guy asked if anyone would hug the animal I jumped right in. But then when we got to the llamas the guy wanted us to put the food between our lips and have the llamas get it from our mouths so it looked like you were kissing the llama. Molly, after laughing a bit, was willing to try it out and went for it. Then after a little pressure I went next!! Then Molly's sweet friend Brie went. After which Molly did it with another llama!
I can now say I've kissed a llama and don't ever have to worry about doing it ever again. haha.
Thankfully, after all this llama kissing, we were able to actually hold a baby kangaroo. She was so tiny and cute! If only I could've snuck her into my purse and taken her home with me.
I "kissed" a llama!!

I'm holding a BABY kangaroo!! Too cute!

Molly was the first to kiss a llama and she did it twice!

Look at that too cute little baby pokin his head out of  his momma's pouch

Back Home

So I arrived yesterday in Redmond and it was nice to come home even though I do miss Dave. It was weird driving through Redmond and seeing some of the changes going on, but it was also nice to know that pretty much everything had stayed the same.
Kiernan and I made cookies today too which was a fun activity and something I always love to do with him. Our cookies were "spring themed" since Easter was this last Sunday (this is also probably the most Easter like thing I did this year too which is a little sad).

we made a boy and girl bunny that were so cute
Other than making cookies and eating other yummy things I've visited with an old high school teacher of mine, went to book club with my mom, been to the grocery store, played the piano a lot, watched "Father of the Bride Part Two" as well as some things on Prince William and Kate and their up and coming wedding, looked at the bedroom that once was officially mine and seen the things Jessy has done with it, and enjoyed being able to talk to Dave on the phone at the end of his day (he's 3 hours ahead of me!!).

Grow Wise Little Owl

Another owl drawing kinda like this one , but I actually drew this little beauty first and it started my owl drawing kick! I love their little patterned bodies, it kind of reminds me of little sweater vests.

No matter what, you’re going to mess up sometimes, it’s a universal truth. But the good part is, you get to decide how you’re going to mess it up. Girls will be your friends - they’ll act like it anyway. But just remember, some come, some go. The ones that stay with you through everything - they’re your true best friends. Don’t let go of them. Also remember, sisters make the best friends in the world. As for lovers, well, they’ll come and go too. And babe, I hate to say it, most of them - actually pretty much all of them are going to break your heart, but you can’t give up; because if you give up, you’ll never find your soul mate. You’ll never find that half who makes you whole. And that goes for everything; just because you fail once, doesn’t mean you’re gonna fail at everything. Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always believe in yourself. Because if you don’t, then who will, sweetie? So. Keep your head high. Keep your chin up. And most importantly, keep smiling. Because life’s a beautiful thing and there’s so much to smile about.

Sooo This Hasn't Been Done Yet ---

But it was definitely coming (especially since Camille's blogged about Brandon twice already and their not even married yet haha)
Meet David Scott Zaugg, or as I call him, Dave (honey, lover, my dear husband)
In his wedding day look
He loves to watch movies and play video games --
The best part is we own this game
and he still has to use his points at Dave and Buster's to play it

He loves wearing basket ball shorts, a t-shirt, and a baseball hat --
But I think he looks sexier in nicer clothes (me too compared to that picture above... hmm denny's at 4 am, bad idea) --

His favorite sport is basketball (team would be either The Celtics or The Trailblazers. Since I'm a Lakers girl (and the Sonics when they were a live) we had to come up with a family team, hello Oklahoma City Thunder). He watches, plays, talks about, reads about, wears, and vidoe games basketball (if he could control his dreams I sure that'd be it too)
Us at a basketball game
Said basketball game (Suns vs Pacers)
He works for SBM and manages cleaning crews at Intel sites in the Chandler area (with a couple other guys). He tells me all about his days which are sometimes good and sometimes bad. He can't wait to tell me if there was somethings funny. Dave loves laughing, as do I. One of his favorite actors is Adam Sandler (he has pretty much the whole Adam Sandler collection) which means when people like Rob Schnieder come into town we need to see him --
Us seeing Rob Schnieder
The silly man himself.
He even did some famous quotes such as "You Can Do It"
and my favorite "hip hip hop hippopotamus"
Dave enjoys tickling, teasing, and cuddling --
He's a big fan of dogs. Real man's best friend kind of dogs. So when we go places like actual pet stores (petco does not count. If it doesn't sell dogs it shouldn't be a real pet store) it's not just me leaving there sad because we can't get the little puppies we see and instantly fall in love with. We've learned our lesson though and only look and don't play with them anymore now. This is why, meet Sneezer, the cutest puppy boxer we never got to actually own --
He's a wonderful husband who is there for me when I need him most (yellow rapunzel hair of 2011), my best friend who I can talk to about anything, is willing to be goofy with me, one of my biggest fans (he's always trying to get me to try to sell my artwork and stuff, he's too sweet), and the perfect guy for me.

ummm I love Audrey Hepburn
I NEED this picture hung up on my wall...
if only I'd drawn it first

Silly Owl

Here's an owl picture I drew/photoshoped today. And who says he can't be a fun color. Here's the first owl picture I did that inspired this one.

The Silly Things We Do

Is it bad that I can honestly say I listen to "The Nutcracker" ballet's soundtrack at least once a month... all year long? I mean it's only really in the spirit of Christmas when you go and see it right? Oh well if it's not I can't stop myself because I love it.

Oh Sleep

Sometimes I struggle with falling asleep at night (like tonight). Sometimes I'm so tired while I'm reading in bed or playing on my laptop I can barely keep my eyes open, so I think to myself it's time for bed, but as soon as I put aside those things and close my eyes I end up lying in bed for an hour and I can't even fall asleep or get close to (tonight). Or my brain is too busy thinking about things, sometimes even stupid things (I struggled with this the most while taking my french class... all my thoughts were in french and i only know so many phrases before I have to repeat them all again in my head). Or I'll have a song stuck in my head, which will repeat a couple of times and then move on to another song which will repeat a few times and so on. Or I just can't find that comfy instant sleep position I need to get into. Or someone is snoring just a little too loud for me (very rare though don't worry), or it'll be the opposite and I need more sound (I enjoy falling asleep to music, where as Dave not so much). Or if I'm all by myself in the apartment I get all too nervous to fall asleep on my own and psych myself out. There's also the I really need to use the bathroom, but I'm too lazy to get out of bed one. The I'm super hungry right now tactic is a great way to keep me up too. I can be too hot or too cold or too anything... sometimes I just want to go to sleep and my body just doesn't agree with me... please help.

The Things We Hated and Then Loved

So I was thinking about this today while working on dinner (love the slow cooker!!). There are many things I can think of when I was a kid that I'd say I strongly disliked, but now I love them. Here are a few of mine --

  • Tacos, yes it's true. Pretty much anything considered a Mexican dish was out in my book when I was little, besides just plain cheese quesadillas (which I still love)
  • Broccoli
  • The Beatles (this is still true about some of there songs though.... "Yellow Submarine"
  • All sorts of foods ( I still consider myself a little bit of a picky eater, but boy was I worse back then)
  • Enya, I remember getting an Enya cd when we still lived in Irvine (so I was either 10 or younger) and I was not pleased. But now I can't get enough of her beautiful music.
I'm sure lots of people have been through this hate to love pattern in their lives. I just think it's funny how our opinion can change over the years. But there are also tons of things I loved back then that I still love... example being dressing up and being goofy --

18 April 2011

So I'm excited for this next month of my life, I'm going home to my family, going to be able to do some things back home that I don't do here (running being one of them), and hopefully taking lots of pictures. Then at the end of next month right after Dave and I get back from our trips we're going up to Utah for one of Dave's friend's wedding which also means I get to visit with Aunt Viola who I adore!!

Probably some of the prettiest, most calming, and creativity inspiring songs ever

My Dream Home

If I could paint you a vision of my dream house these pictures are all that sum it up the most I think....

I love the romantic, tucked away, soft colors, vintage touch, with a magical essence about the place
