1 May 2013

So this last weekend we went out to the Bay Area to help Juan, Sara, and Maia move... the funny thing is that almost exactly a year ago we had helped them move into the apartment they were moving out of (luckily they've stayed within the same area for all the moves). We drove up Friday after Dave got finished from work. Cohen was a champ and slept pretty much all the way up until we got within 10 mins of the city they live in. Upon arrival Cohen decided he had to keep an eye on Juan at all times and make sure he knew where Juan was and that he wasn't to close to him (Cohen is super "stranger danger" with men). Cohen also decided he wasn't the biggest fan of Maia that day too since she was "loud".... apparently we have a very sensitive baby at times. Luckily he was much better with both of them with each day. He almost instantly loved Sara though (he LOVES women, especially mommy women).
That night we learned that Cohen is sensitive to Dave's snoring and poor Dave ended up having to sleep on the couch because Cohen couldn't get into a deep enough sleep without being woken up. We all got up early and finished up packing while the men-folk loaded up the truck and cars and took things back and forth between the two apartments (they're were like a block apart from each other so that was great).
For dinner that night we decided on Chef Chu's which is tasty (pricey) Chinese local food that I had so happened to grow up eating whenever my family would go to visit my Grandpa in Los Altos Hills so that was fun to get to have food from there in remembrance of him (it was his favorite). We went with take out because of the babies and because it would be packed when we would eat so Sara and I loaded up the babies into our jeep who took turns screaming the whole way there (until the last 2 mins when they were both screaming at the same time). Luckily I was able to get Cohen to not scream on the way back by giving him my wallet (so grateful for those toys that aren't really toys that entertain him). We got the babies to bed after eating and did a little more unpacking before going to sleep ourselves.
The next day consisted of a little more unpacking and then we drove up to see my Grandpa's old house (something I wanted to do every time we were out there but we never did it) and then we went to a local park that only Palo Alto citizens and their accompanying guests can get into (strange, I know) to take some family pictures of Juan and Sara. After that we headed back to Juan and Sara's, hung out for a little bit, and then made the drive home. There was a big accident on the drive home involving a truck, rv, and car (I had Dave look while I drove being the cautious driver I try to be) which meant our drive was an extra half hour long. And, sadly, this time Cohen woke up  when we still had an hour to go and wanted out of his car seat SO BAD. Dave went and sat next to him and was able to kind of calm him down for about a half hour in and out. We finally made it him and Cohen was ecstatic to get out of his car seat. He was so happy that even when he fell and bonked him head he just giggled and popped back up holding onto the ottoman  this is the boy who cries pretty much every time he hits his head.

Cohen, after eating baby food with a grown up spoon... he LOVES to blow raspberries while eating and it  was even messier with the big spoon
